We have very sadly lost our white girl, Skadi, to Fading Kitten Syndrome. She stopped gaining weight and was not suckling from mum, so we had been supplementing her and things were looking up, her weight was going up and she was strong and active. She was checked by our vet who pronounced her a healthy little girl and said to just carry on as we were, but warned that sometimes it is just 'Natures Way' that you lose some.
Things suddenly changed, her weight dropped again and despite our best efforts, we lost her on the 8th November.
What can we say about Skadi? Well, she had a huge character for such a little girl. She was full of attitude, always the loudest, yelling at the world for one thing or another, gorgeously opinionated!! She had such an independent way about her already and had recently developed a huge purr. There is no doubt in our mind that she would have grown into a beautiful girl with a beautiful temperament to match.
We can't help but feel that if this is natures way, then nature is cruel. We did not imagine that you could get so attached in such a short space of time; losing Skadi has hit us all very hard. We still feel honoured that we had this little girl, even if it was for only 2 weeks and 6 days, we just wish it were for longer.
Rest in Peace little one, we will always remember you
